Your Presence Matters!
We love our students and love having them here! When students are healthy and able to attend, being at school each day allows them to learn, grow, connect with their teachers and classmates, and make the most of their school experience.
To encourage regular attendance, each Hillsboro ISD campus offers a variety of attendance awards, incentives, and competitions throughout the year!
Hillsboro Elementary School
Students with perfect attendance are entered into a drawing to win a bike, with a winner selected at the end of the school year.
Attendance drawings are randomly held during lunches for prizes. Students must be present to win.
Every six weeks, the grade with the highest attendance earns an extra recess and a prize.
Students with perfect attendance receive individual perfect attendance certificates.
Hillsboro Intermediate School:
Students with perfect attendance every six weeks receive a donut and are entered into a drawing to win a basketball.
Students with perfect attendance every six weeks are also entered into a drawing to win a basketball hoop, with a winner selected at the end of the school year.
Hillsboro Junior High School:
Students with perfect attendance every six weeks receive a free lunch provided by HJH administration.
Students who maintain perfect attendance for the entire school year are entered into a grade-level drawing to win a prize.
Classes that achieve multiple perfect attendance days can earn a pizza party, dress-up day, popcorn party, or other celebration.
Hillsboro High School:
Students earn course credits through regular attendance and successful completion of course requirements.
During the spring semester, seniors with four or fewer absences may be eligible for final exam exemptions.
Students with perfect attendance at the end of the school year are recognized and awarded.
Why Does Attendance Matter?
Regular attendance plays an important role in a student's success. Students who attend school regularly have more opportunities to engage in learning, stay connected with their teachers and classmates, and keep up with coursework. When students miss school, they miss important instruction and activities, and the missed learning can become more difficult to make up over time.
